Community Emergency Response Team training is offered only twice a year in Green Valley/Sahuarita.  The second session this year will begin on October 9th and sign-ups are now being accepted.

The training prepares residents with the skills and confidence to respond to emergencies and to support the fire department in the event of a disaster.  Classroom sessions and exercises include disaster preparedness, disaster psychology, disaster medical, light search and rescue and fire safety.  The training is free and there is no requirement to become a CERT member.

Training will be held at the Green Valley Fire District Training Center, 1285 West Camino Encanto, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on October 9, 10, 16, and 17, with a practical exercise and graduation on Saturday a.m. October 19th.  For more information and to sign-up please visit our Contact page.

♦ Special Thanks to L.T. Pratt and Bob Gallagher ♦

For years, GGV CERT rented a locker for administrative and training supplies.  As rental fees increased this became a financial burden.  L.T. Pratt, GVFD Community Outreach Coordinator and liaison with CERT, pledged to find a solution and did so by clearing space in a GVFD trailer.  Bob Gallagher, GGVCERT President coordinated the move to the trailer and did much of the work himself, a huge effort.  Kudos to both and to those who helped.

Pima County Emergency Alert System: Pima County is now offering a type of reverse 911 system. By signing up for it you will receive information about an emergency in your geographic area based on the types of notifications you request. Go to to learn more.
