Arizona Citizen Corps highlights GGV CERT: See it here in the October 2019 issue of the AZSCCC Newsletter.
Congratulations to Graduating Students of the October 2019 CERT Basic Course
Seven students successfully completed the 20—hour CERT Basic Course on Oct 19th, 2019. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. The Basic Course will be offered again in February, watch for announcements.
Back Row: Louise Keane, Bill Roskey, Judy Sypkens, Steve Conklin. Front Row: Hayes Galitksi, Jack Cruikshank, Brian Kahn.
♦ Special Thanks to L.T. Pratt and Bob Gallagher ♦
For years, GGV CERT rented a locker for administrative and training supplies. As rental fees increased this became a financial burden. L.T. Pratt, GVFD Community Outreach Coordinator and liaison with CERT, pledged to find a solution and did so by clearing space in a GVFD trailer. Bob Gallagher, GGVCERT President coordinated the move to the trailer and did much of the work himself, a huge effort. Kudos to both and to those who helped.
Pima County Emergency Alert System: Pima County is now offering a type of reverse 911 system. By signing up for it you will receive information about an emergency in your geographic area based on the types of notifications you request. Go to emergencyalerts.pima.gov to learn more.
