October 6, 2020 – Updated By-Laws and the new Policies & Procedures document may be found on the By-Laws page under the Organization tab on the Navigation bar.

Greater Green Valley CERT training on September 30th, 2020, focused on emergency response for injuries resulting in excessive bleeding. The instructor was CERT President Paul Fitch, who, in addition to CERT and other trauma-related training, recently completed the three-day Combat Lifesaving Course in Phoenix. Jim Easter is shown applying a SWAT tourniquet on victim Jack Cruikshank under Paul’s watchful eye. The Stretch-Wrap-and-Tuck (SWAT) tourniquet, simple to use and highly effective, is included in the kit issued to GGV CERT members.

The meeting was held at the Canoa Ranch Golf Resort. We greatly appreciate the General Manager of the Resort allowing us to use their meeting room as the GVFD Training Center remains unavailable. For those who missed September’s training we recommend viewing the FEMA video, You are The Help Until Help Arrives.

The October 28th meeting will be held at Canoa Ranch Golf Resort, 5775 S. Camino del Sol in Green Valley, starting at 6 PM. After entering the building, walk to the left to get to the conference room. The topic will be “Water, where to find it and how to make it potable”. Make sure you attend to receive your hot-off-the-press Field Operations Handbook.

The Fall Basic Course scheduled for November will not be held because the GVFD Training Center remains unavailable. We hope to schedule a course in early 2021.

Good News about Dues – they are not due! Members who paid dues for 2020 will remain CERT members through 2021 without paying additional dues.
